In this article we introduce you to our new collaboration agreement with the UPM (Unió Patronal Metal·lúrgica) which will offer discounted training to its associates as well as many other interesting contents for its members and for Itemsa’s clients.
Since 1998 we have collaborated with the UPM in different projects to improve the productivity and competitiveness of companies in the metal-mechanical sector, supporting them in their transformation towards Industry 4.0. For this reason we have organised Webinars, work sessions and discounted training for its associates and now we are renewing and extending this agreement to continue providing value to all stakeholders.
Reduced cost training for UPM associates
At Itemsa we have been training our clients’ teams for many years by providing specialised courses that enable the transfer of our know-how. In our courses, webinars and in-company courses we train the company’s personnel and align them with the lean management culture while instilling new values to expand the cultural change necessary to continue improving productivity and competitiveness and to move towards Industry 4.0.
Recently, we have been pioneers by joining One-MTM to offer internationally certified MTM training, MTM training itineraries and the first MTM E-Learning training platform in Spain. And with this agreement, UPM associates will be able to access all these training developments at a discounted price.
Furthermore, all UPM associates have access to tailor-made pilot tests of our lean software for Industry 4.0 –APPRODUCTIVITY 4.0-.
We will participate in Advanced Machine Tools 2023 in collaboration with UPM and we will be giving a talk at the Speakers Corner
From April 18 to 20, 2023 a new edition of Advanced Factories will be held at Fira de Barcelona and UPM will be one of the only three Strategic Partners of Advanced Machine Tools ( a parallel show to Advanced Factories) and will have a large presence in both shows.
Within the framework of our collaboration with the UPM we will also have presence in their stand at the Advanced Machine Tools and Itemsa’s CEO David Calvo will lecture at the Speakers Corner of this event. In this conference David will explain how our APPRODUCTIVITY 4.0 software can significantly improve the productivity and competitiveness of industrial companies that are intensive in the use of machinery and capital goods and he will also show how to use it to get the most out of the investments made in these areas.
Advanced Machine Tools is the leading trade fair for the metal, automotive, capital goods, railway, electronics, aeronautics, etc. industries, and more than 14,000 professionals from those sectors are expected to attend.

An interview with our CEO David Calvo
Finally, UPM has also interviewed our CEO David Calvo. In this conversation David discusses aspects such as Itemsa‘s trajectory, the extensive collaboration with UPM, summarizes the key points of how we work on productivity improvement projects, our experience in MTM, our training system and also explains how Itemsa is increasingly participating in several projects that go beyond the mere improvement of productivity, efficiency and technical competitiveness, including the valuation and hierarchization of jobs, based on technical aspects, and design, negotiation and implementation of new systems of work organization and incentives ( incentive remuneration for when results above the standards are achieved) or the sizing of staff. As these projects are carried out not only in the industrial sector, but also in other different sectors (e.g. hospitals or hotels) and also to different groups/functions, such as technical and administrative tasks. Finally, he also explains the main advantages of our APPRODUCTIVITY 4.0 software for companies in the industrial sector.
